Longitudinal Associations between Community Outdoor Environment Renovation and Outdoor Activities of the Elderly: An Observational Study
This paper aims to conduct a longitudinal study on the satisfaction and demand degree of the elderly before and after the renovation of the community’s outdoor environment. Objective field observations are used to explore the scale and characteristics of the outdoor activities of the elderly. The Likert scale and SD method are used to measure the elderly’s satisfaction with the outdoor environment of their current residence and their demand for an ideal community. The results show that the number of outdoor activities in the renovated area has increased significantly, and the good outdoor environment has also prolonged the activity time of the elderly. These findings indicate that the renovation policy has a significant effect. However, items with low satisfaction, such as Lighting facilities and Public toilets, will become the focus of future reconstruction. This research makes a significant contribution to the field of urban old community renovation policy.
