Spatio-Temporal Evolution of Urban Residential Welfare and Analysis of Obstacle Factors in Hainan Province under the Background of Urban Renewal
Currently, the focus of urban development in China has shifted from incremental construction to stock improvement, and urban renewal actions are implemented to promote the optimization of urban spatial structure and quality improvement. Using the panel data of 18 cities and counties in Hainan Province from 2014 to 2022, we construct a residential welfare index system containing dimensions, such as economic development, infrastructure, residential quality, residential price, and government investment, from the perspective of urban renewal and use entropy weighted TOPSIS method and obstacle factor diagnostic model to explore the temporal and spatial evolution characteristics of urban residential welfare and its obstacle factors in Hainan Province. The results found that temporal residential welfare shows an upward trend, spatial Haikou and Sanya are high-level areas, and other areas show a pattern that coastal cities are better than central cities. The main obstacles affecting residential welfare are infrastructure development and government investment.
