The Positional Component of the Pedagogical Model of the Development of a Holistic Media Personality at the University
The paper identifies the problem of the gap between the social order for journalists of a new formation, who are capable of using digital tools to process large amounts of information, create original media products, and distribute them in a targeted manner, and Russian media education (higher school), which, for various reasons, is late in responding to socio-cultural transformations and challenges of the new time. Based on the analysis of scientific literature, as well as survey data, the author of the study identifies the following urgent problems in preparing journalism students to work in a modern convergent editorial office: digitalization of the media and insufficient possession of digital tools; competition with public (civil) journalists; insufficient assistance from media educators in the successful self-development and self-identification of future journalists. The author believes that the solution to these problems can be found in in systematic work on the formation of an integral media personality with the necessary professional competencies. In this regard, the novelty of the study is due to the detailed description of the positional component of the pedagogical model. One of the ways to implement it in the educational process may be to create a “virtual editorial office”, that is, a convergent editorial model when solving a serious educational task (in our case, when creating a large media project). Within the framework of project activities, such a format for presenting journalistic information as longrid has proven itself well. In this case, the media teacher acts as a facilitator, a translator of the cultural norm.
