Managing Supply Chain Vulnerability through Stakeholder Capability in Prefabricated Construction: Two-Mode Network Analysis
Prefabricated construction (PC) is at the primary development stage in most developing countries, and its supply chain encounters various vulnerabilities, such as improper design alterations and a lack of trust in communication. Most of the existing research identified key supply chain vulnerabilities (SCVs) in the PC, but these SCVs lack management from the perspective of capability. This paper aims to provide theoretical support for effectively managing SCVs using stakeholder capabilities (SCs) based on a two-mode network analysis. This study first extracted 9 SCs and 30 SCVs within the PC supply chain through literature analysis. The data were then obtained through a questionnaire survey in China. A two-mode and two one-mode networks related to SCs and SCVs were subsequently constructed. The results of measures such as node weighted degree are finally analyzed. The findings reveal that: (1) SCs, especially emergency response capability, play a great role in addressing vulnerabilities, and the difficulty level in resolving different vulnerabilities varies significantly; and (2) there are considerable synergy effects between SCs in resolving SCVs and similarities among vulnerabilities related to design and manufacturing. This paper can provide guidelines for efficiently managing SCVs in PC.
