Study on the Professional Competence Requirements of Engineering Management in the Construction and Real Estate Fields for High-Quality Development
Against the backdrop of “New Engineering” initiatives and the accreditation of engineering education, the nascent development of engineering management programs aligns with Outcome-Based Education (OBE) models, particularly considering the accelerated growth of high-quality housing and urban construction. Characterized by innovative real estate models and urban renewal projects, this context underscores the need for a thorough examination of evolving competence expectations from construction and real estate employers. This study, grounded in a literature review of engineering management competence requirements, employs on-site visits and surveys to systematically analyze the skill demands of professionals within these sectors. It specifically investigates the current essentials for engineering managers in high-quality construction and real estate development, identifying two critical competencies: “Professional and Research Competence” and “Communication and Innovation Competence,” which emerge from the 12 accreditation criteria. This research offers a valuable roadmap for institutions to refine their engineering management competence development goals, design tailored programs, and inform the structuring of course curricula and learning objectives.
