Interaction of Carbon Emissions Factors in the Transportation Industry in Sichuan and Chongqing Regions Based on LMDI Model
While promoting social and economic prosperity, the transportation industry has also become one of the main industries in China’s carbon emissions. This study is based on energy consumption data of the transportation industry in the Sichuan and Chongqing regions from 2014 to 2021. A quantitative assessment of carbon emissions in Sichuan and Chongqing regions was conducted using the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) carbon emissions accounting method. The LMDI model (Logarithmic Average Dickson Index method) was applied to explore the interaction effects between the carbon emissions factors in the transportation industry. The results indicate that for Chongqing and Sichuan regions, economic growth and population effects are the main causes of increased carbon emissions, while improving energy utilization efficiency and optimizing the structure of the transportation industry are the keys to suppressing carbon emissions. On this basis, strategies for carbon reduction in the transportation industry were proposed.
