Survey on Characteristics of Construction Workers in Human-Robot Interactions
Within the context of intelligent construction, humans and robots will coexist for a long time involving a large amount of human-robot close interaction operations. The workers operating construction robots may have different individual characteristics from traditional workers. To enhance the safety level of intelligent construction, the present study aims to identify the characteristics of construction workers in human-robot interactions (HRIs) that lead to unsafe behaviors and clarify their impact pathways on unsafe behaviors. Therefore, a questionnaire-based survey was designed based on literature review. The results of 47 construction workers in HRIs indicate that construction workers in HRIs perform well in aspects such as attitudes towards construction robots, occupational experience, safety literacy, risk attitude, psychological status, physical condition, and personality traits. The findings of this study contribute to reducing the risk of unsafe behaviors, driving the construction industry towards a safer and more efficient direction in HRIs. The present study provides a reference for shifting the focus of construction safety in HRIs from workers to HRIs.
