The Essential Importance of Dental Coding in Modern Health Care: A Comprehensive Systematic Review
The integration of standardized coding systems such as the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), has engendered significant advancements in the healthcare domain. This research article scrutinizes the implications of implementing the ICD-10 Clinical Modification (ICD-10 CM) in dental practices, elucidating both the prospective advantages and challenges within a global context. The study utilizes Preferred Reporting Materials for a Systematic Assessment and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA)-S approach to explore the importance of dental coding processes in health care. Employing a PRISMA-S methodology, this study delves into the criticality of dental coding processes in the realm of health care. A comprehensive review was conducted by methodically sourcing five pertinent articles from reputable databases. The synthesis of international studies yields encouraging outcomes, underscoring the potential of dental coding systems, particularly the ICD-10 CM, to ameliorate diagnostic and therapeutic processes, promote data standardization, and establish ethical and legal compliance in dental practice. Furthermore, the research highlighted the imperative of proficient training and education of the utilization of dental coding systems among healthcare professionals.
