Dibenzocyclooctatetraene based poly-Lewis-acids: flapping hosts for multidentate guests

Flapping poly-Lewis acids based on dibenzocyclooctatetraene were synthesised. They are able to complex (poly-)Lewis bases, e.g. caffeine, and to form coordination polymers. Their aggregation and structure was studied in the solution and solid state.
