The Impact of the Artificial Intelligence Era on Art Exhibitions and Response Strategies

Objectives: The objective of this study is to investigate the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in art exhibitions, specifically how it enhances exhibition efficiency, improves user experience, and creates new avenues for artistic engagement. Theoretical Framework: This research is grounded in a relational framework that examines the interaction between AI-driven and traditional art exhibitions, highlighting how technological advancements influence curatorial practices and audience engagement. Method: A mixed-methods approach is employed, consisting of a comprehensive literature review, in-depth interviews with curators and artists, surveys from exhibition attendees, and inductive analysis of current AI applications in the field. This methodology ensures a holistic understanding of the current trends and challenges in integrating AI into the exhibition process. Results and Discussion: The study finds that AI-powered exhibitions present significant benefits, such as enabling personalized experiences for visitors, streamlining the curatorial process through data-driven insights, and creating new forms of interaction between art and technology. However, challenges persist, particularly in maintaining a balance between AI’s technological potential and the preservation of artistic integrity. Traditional exhibitions, though still dominant, are increasingly complemented by AI-driven formats that cater to modern demands for innovation and efficiency. Research Implications: The findings highlight the need for strategies that carefully integrate AI technologies without compromising the artistic experience. This includes leveraging AI for personalized engagement, improving curatorial processes, and fostering a symbiotic relationship between humans and machines to enhance creativity and interactivity. Value: This research offers novel insights into the future of art exhibitions by proposing strategies to effectively incorporate AI while ensuring that the essence of traditional art curation is not lost. Its value lies in providing practical guidelines for balancing technological innovation with artistic authenticity, fostering creative thinking, and meeting evolving audience expectations.
