A Low Voltage Ride Through Strategy Based on Virtual Synchronous Generator
A fault ride-through strategy is proposed in this study. The strategy aims to improve the stability and reliability of the power system in the face of grid faults such as voltage dips. The proposed system switches to VSG mode operation when a slight drop in grid voltage occurs. In this mode, the system is able to maintain a stable output of active power and provide reactive power by automatically regulating the voltage. Upon the grid voltage decrementing to a predefined threshold, the Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG) system intervenes by implementing current limitation and modulating power commands. This intervention is crucial for supplying reactive power to the grid, thereby safeguarding the integrity of electrical equipment. Concurrently, the VSG system's actions are designed to augment the system's reactiveness to the transient dynamics inherent within the grid operations. Through this strategy, the adaptability and resilience of the power system to grid faults can be improved, which is important for enhancing the overall performance and reliability of the grid.
