Application of Compact Orthogonal Controllable Reactor in VSC-HVDC
The VSC-HVDC system accesses new energy through pulse width modulation technology, which can effectively solve the related impact of new energy on grid stability, but the AC harmonics generated by the converter still need to be managed. This paper proposes a tunable LC filter solution based on compact orthogonal controllable reactors. It designs the reactor and filter models and establishes a simulation model of VSC-HVDC. The system is simulated under common switching frequencies to evaluate its harmonic suppression performance under dynamic regulation. The simulation results indicate that the compact orthogonal controllable reactor has excellent dynamic regulation capability for inductance values and can reasonably control harmonic content under various conditions, thus improving the power quality of the VSC- HVDC.
