On the role of industrial science in research of aquatic biological resources of Russia Northern seas

The fishing industry occupies key positions in the structure of the Russian agro-industrial complex, and situational changes that arise in the management process force us to analyze with special attention the issues of organizing and conducting research work by fishery scientists. The study notes the effective and consistent work of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (ARIFO) and its branches. The scientific re-search carried out by ARIFO employees in the Northern Seas of Russia is considered, and the developed scientific catch forecasts and recommendations aimed at ensuring fisheries in the Arctic zone determined the extraction of aquatic biological resources. There is a positive assessment of international scientific cooperation in research of aquatic biological resources for the purpose of their conservation and rational use. The databases created by scientists will serve as the basis for assessing the stock and forecasting the volume of allowable catch and recommended catch of biological resources for the future. The problems solved by fisheries science researchers are presented, in particular, the collection and analysis of materials on the distribution, size-age and sex structure, size-weight characteristics of bottom, benthic-pelangic species of fish and invertebrates, the implementation of a range of works on the study of hydrometeorological, oceanic and hydrochemical conditions for the formation of zones of increased water bioproductivity in the study areas. Scientific international meetings of the academic community were outlined, as a result of which agreements were reached to continue working consultations to further agree on the parameters of planned programs of joint international research in the economic zones of states and the World ocean. The primary role of scientific support of the fishing industry in the successful implementation of general goals and achievement of set objectives is emphasized.
