Native two-hands gesture input interface of IntelligentBox using leap motion controller and its applications
IntelligentBox is a 3D graphics software development system that provides 3D primitive components. Users can develop 3D applications as composite components made up of these 3D primitive components by operating a mouse device directly on the computer screen. In situations like the COVID-19 pandemic, non-contact input interfaces are important. The authors have already proposed that one dedicated component of IntelligentBox serves as an input interface for two-handed gestures in 3D applications. However, this was not a native feature of IntelligentBox. Therefore, the authors also proposed a new native interface for two-handed gesture input in IntelligentBox that will allow users to create 3D applications without using contact devices such as mouse devices. This uses the non-contact device Leap Motion Controller as a mouse cursor. The authors evaluated several operations to justify the usefulness and to clarify the problems of the proposed native hand gesture input interface.
