DEVELOPMENT OF COMMODITY CHARACTERISTICS OF CIRSIUM HETEROPHYLLUM LEAVES
The genus Cirsium of Asteraceae family includes more than 400 species according to different sources. Wide interest is represented by melancholy thistle. The plant is widely used in folk medicine. Infusion, decoction of the herb is used internally for epilepsy and other diseases of nervous system, liver disease, stomach colic. Dry and fresh leaves are used as an external wound-healing agent. Currently, melancholy thistle does not have the status of an official plant in the Russian Federation. In scientific literature there is limited information about chemical composition and quantitative content of some biologically active substances. In this regard, for introduction of the plant in ophicinal practice it is necessary to initially carry out the development of parameters for pharmacopoeial monograph on medicinal plant raw materials. Therefore, the purpose at the stage of this study was to development some commodity characteristics of melancholy thistle leaves harvested in the Perm region. This article presents the results of commodity characteristics of raw materials melancholy thistle leaves. The tests were carried out according to the general pharmacopoeial monographs of the State Pharmacopoeia of 15th edition. The following parameters were determined: moisture, total ash, ash insoluble in 10% solution of hydrochloric acid. All obtained data were statistically processed. The whole raw material of melancholy thistle leaves and powder were described. As a result of the study, the following values of quality indicators of studied plant were revealed: moisture – 9.63%, total ash – 10.97%, ash insoluble in 10% hydrochloric acid solution – 0.26%. The obtained data of the determination of melancholy thistle raw material allows us to consider that the methods used are not burdened with a systematic error.
