ANALYSIS OF THE PROPERTIES OF POLYMER MATERIALS USED FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF REMOVABLE DENTURE BASES

The purpose of the study is to conduct a comparative analysis of the properties of polymeric materials (water absorption and solubility) used for manufacturing removable denture bases using traditional and digital methods. Materials and methods. To conduct the study, experimental samples were made from cold-polymerization base plastic based on polymethyl methacrylate Vertex Castapress (Vertex Dental, Netherlands) and photopolymer material for 3D printing Next Dent Base (Next Dent, Holland) in the amount of 5 pieces for each material. The study was carried out in accordance with GOST 31572-2012 "Polymer materials for denture bases". Statistical analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney criterion. Results. Based on the obtained data, it was concluded that for the photopolymer base material for 3D printing Next Dent Base, the average water absorption value is 9,857 ± 0,2165 μg/mm3, and solubility is 0,22 ± 0,1483 μg/mm3. For the cold polymerization base plastic based on polymethyl methacrylate Vertex Castapress, the average water absorption value is 13,46 ± 0,1826 μg/mm3, solubility is 0,74 ± 0,1342 μg/mm3. These data allow us to conclude that the water absorption and solubility indicators for both materials are within the permissible GOST norm. However, the photopolymer base material Next Dent Base has significantly lower data compared to the cold polymerization plastic Vertex Castapress (the medians of the samples for the water absorption criterion differ by 32,4%, and for the solubility criterion – by 75,0%).
