REVERSABLE CAPILLARY CIRCUIT ACTUATION: NEW CFET FUNCTIONALITY TO AUTOMATE FLUID MANIPULATION IN PORTABLE ASSAYS
Presented is capillaric circuitry for the reversible operation of capillaric Field Effect Transistors (cFETs) to return flow to channels closed by the cFET.The base cFET provides fluid control in capillary microfluidics by restricting flow in a channel using an occluding bubble [1].Previously, we described cFET fabrication and operation [1] and transistor-like control [2].From this, we demonstrated capillaric feedback, metering, and logic [3]; later used to develop a capillaric viscometer [4].Most recently, we described dual-gate cFETs and other optimizations for condition-specific operation [5].The reversible cFET (rcFET) discussed here provides new preprogrammed fluid control, enabling applications previously inaccessible.
