"RAPID, CAPILARY-DRIVEN IMMUNOASSAYS FOR STI DETECTION"
A novel, rapid home-diagnostic test for bacterial sexually transmitted illnesses (STIs) was developed that automates the reagent delivery and washing steps required for up to four enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs).Our device is constructed of inexpensive transparency film and double-sided adhesive that is patterned, cut, and laminated together to form hollow channels.Upon the introduction of the sample, bacterial proteins, dried reagents, and washing steps are delivered sequentially to and washed from a nitrocellulose test strip, giving the enduser a visual output in less than 20 minutes. The device is constructed of inexpensive transparency film and doublesided adhesive that is patterned, cut, and laminated together to form hollow channels.Image acquisition is facilitated using a smartphone camera with a determined analytical limit of detection of 5.29 ng/mL for C. trachomatis.
