ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS OF HERBICIDE APPLICATION

Herbicides selectively destroy weeds, which significantly increases yields. However, these substances are toxic to humans and animals. They enter the soil, natural waters, grain and can pose a significant danger to the population and ecology of the region. In this work, the content of herbicides in environmental objects is investigated. In the course of developing the method for determining microquantities of the substances under study, the molecular sorption of these non-electrolytes on ion-exchange resins of different mesh and porosity was investigated. Sorption on cationites significantly exceeds this indicator for anionites. The best results were achieved using the cationite KU-23, the concentration value in this case is 5*102 times. The migration of the herbicides propanide and yalan from rice paddies to the water area of the Kuban River has been studied. The excess of the maximum permissible concentration in individual samples was found to be dozens of times. The results of the study open up new ways to detect trace amounts of herbicides in environmental objects for environmental monitoring, and in the long term, to preserve environmental well–being and protect public health.
