COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF AUTHENTICITY AND SOME QUALITY INDICATORS OF SILAUM SILAUS (L.) SCHINZ & THELL. AND ANTHRISCUS SYLVESTRIS (L.) HOFFM. HERBS GROWING IN STAVROPOL REGION

Relevance. Of great interest to medicine and pharmacy are plants growing everywhere, with a large above-ground mass, which have found their application in folk medicine, but have not been sufficiently studied. Such promising objects include two plants that are similar in appearance: Silaum silaus and Anthriscus sylvestris, belonging to the Apiaceae family. Both plants are often characterized as weeds, have a large above-ground mass, have been used in folk medicine since ancient times, and are used as food, which partly indicates their safety. The purpose of the study is a comparative study of the morphological and anatomical features and some quality indicators of the grass Silaum silaus and Anthriscus sylvestris. Materials and methods. The object of the study was dried grass Silaum silaus and Anthriscus sylvestris, harvested during the flowering phase in the Stavropol Territory in June 2023. Studies to determine external features, moisture, total ash, extractive substances, and the amount of flavonoids were carried out in accordance with the methods of the State Pharmacopoeia of the Russian Federation, XIV edition. Results. The main morphological and anatomical features of the herbs Silaum silaus and Anthriscus sylvestris have been determined, and some quality indicators have been established, including the content of flavonoids in terms of rutin. The results of the study showed that Silaum silaus and Anthriscus sylvestris are outwardly similar plants, but the main quality indicators of their raw materials differ. For example, the content of extractive substances extracted by ethyl alcohol of various concentrations in Silaum silaus is significantly lower than in Anthriscus sylvestris, and the total content of flavonoids in terms of rutin is 2 times higher. Therefore, in our opinion, further comparative research on the content of various groups of biologically active compounds in the herbs of these plant species is of interest.
