Transition metal–phenanthroline intercalated montmorillonite as efficient electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction

MMT-based organo-metallic catalysts M(Phen) 2 (M = Ni, Co, Fe) were synthesized via sonication-assisted intercalation. Expanded interlayers improve OER activity. MMT:Co(Phen) 2 shows the best performance with low overpotential and long-term stability.
