Changes in kidney functional and histological features over a 60 days with two levels of sodium arsenite
The impact of heavy metal poisoning can be observed quickly or over time, depending on factors such as the amount, rout and duration of exposure. The present experiment was caried on to fined out by any amount of arsenic and for what period of time, kidney functions changed. A total of 30 Westar rats, divided to three groups handled as follows:-1st group : Control, 2ndand 3rdgroups: T1 and T2 animals administrate tap water with Sodium arsenite 10 and 20 ppm. Blood, urine and kidney tissue collected at 10,30,60 days. Results denoted the enephrotoxicity effects of As starting from 10th day by significant elevation of plasma urea, creatinine and urine albumin correlated with significant decreased estimated glomerular filtration rate and histopathological changes. In conclusion arsenic prolong exposure accumulative adverse effects on functional and structural features of kidney are As-level dependent.
