“Cooperation”, “Antagonism” and “Distancing”: Three Politicized Strategies in Postmodern Concepts of Culture
Introduction. The article is devoted to the analysis of the functioning of politicization in postmodern concepts. It is assumed that politicization can significantly influence humanitarian knowledge, as well as provoke the development of specific politicized strategies of confrontation within the framework of philosophical ideas about culture. Since politicization is a modern social phenomenon, it should also be a special feature of postmodern culture and a likely characteristic of its theory. At the same time, politicization, operating within the theory of culture, probably finds its specific purpose. To highlight a limited range of theory, the concept of «postmodern» is defined within the framework of a paradigmatic approach. Content. The discourse analysis of the major paradigmatic concepts of postmodernism (J.-F. Lyotard, F. Jameson, L. Hutcheon, L. Cole, J. Habermas) allows us to identify politicized components in them (neoliberal, neo-Marxist, etc.), with which stable structurally differentiated elements of postmodern theory correlate ("indestructibility" - "meta-narrative" - "information society"). The identified types of discursive strategies ("cooperation", "antagonism" and "distancing") correspond to the methods of theoretical interaction of politicized knowledge with depoliticized ("postmodernist" philosophy, art, etc.) Demarcation allows us to recognize politicized foundations as the founding theoretical elements of cultural concepts of modernity: the former often act as predictors and presuppositions in relation to other objects of postmodern theory (for example, art). Some contradictions between different postmodern concepts are explained by the specific politicization of the aesthetic effects of modernity. Conclusions. An attempt has been made to reactualize some problems within the framework of postmodern concepts. Since the paradigmatic concepts of modern culture are inextricably linked with ideas about the future, it should be stated that the influence of the political sphere on such theories is inevitable, however, in order to avoid the predictable consequences of politicization, it requires the development of methodology and a special philosophical apparatus for such research, as well as interdisciplinary research. It is recognized that a significant gap in the understanding of "modern" and "postmodern" arose as a result of the specific politicization of the latter. The grounds for demarcation between pre-modern and modern cultures are different from those used for modern and postmodern.
