Improving Reluctance Torque of Outer-Rotor-type PM Motor with Segmented Rotor Structure
The proposed Segment PM motor can use reluctance torque with outer-rotor, but it is not revealed to improve the reluctance torque. This paper presents a improving reluctance torque of outer-rotor-type PM motor with segmented rotor structure. In order to investigate it, the torque improving effect is calculated by using a finite element method (FEM) and compared each slot combination, winding method, and current. The results show that a lower pole number is better for obtaining a high q-axis inductance, and increasing current can improve reluctance torque at the same inductance.
