Proposal of Pediatric Centrifugal Pump Type Ventricular Assist Device Using a Bearingless Motor
In a ventricular assist device, a motor equipped with a bearing causes mechanical loss, is difficult to maintain, has a short pump life, and has the characteristics of lubricant seeping into the body. However, by making the artificial heart implanted in the body without bearings, the life of the pump can be extended and it can be operated without the use of fluids such as lubricants. This paper proposes a zero-power magnetic bearing using C-type PM, intended for use in centrifugal pumps for pediatric artificial hearts. This paper proposes a zero-power magnetic bearing using PM, intended for use in centrifugal pumps for pediatric artificial hearts. It is passively supported by magnetic repulsion in both the radial and thrust directions. Additionally, since the supporting force in the thrust direction is weak, I investigated a device that uses magnetic attraction to reinforce the thrust force.
