Stability Analysis of Multi-Terminal Direct Current in an Actual Power Grid Based on Electromechanical-Electromagnetic Hybrid Simulation

Multi-Terminal Direct Current (MTDC) technology has been widely used in power systems and the characteristics of large AC-DC hybrid power systems are essentially different from those of traditional AC systems. In this regard, it is urgent to build an accuracy simulation model that can be used to analyze the stability of MTDC in actual power grids. Therefore, a simulation model of an actual power grid including MTDC is firstly established in this paper based on an electromechanical-electromagnetic hybrid simulation software. Then, the stability of the MTDC is analyzed under different faults applied on nearby lines. Simulation results show that the hybrid simulation model established in this paper can not only accurately describe the dynamic characteristic of the MTDC system, but also has a higher efficiency compared with traditional models in electromagnetic transient simulation.
