A Study on Performance Improvement via Magnetic Saturation in a 12-Slot 10-Pole Concentrated-Winding Permanent-Magnet Motor
This study investigates performance improvement owing to magnetic saturation in a permanent magnet (PM) motor with a stator fractional-slot concentrated winding configuration. Variable-flux capability should be enhanced to improve efficiency over a wide operating range of torque and speed. A stator design has been proposed to purposively induce magnetic saturation for improving efficiency. This digest numerically shows the efficiency improvement achieved by the proposed stator design.
