A Day-Ahead Market Clearing Model Considering Deep Peak Regulation of Electrochemical Energy Storage

With the increase of new energy penetration and the decrease of adjustable capacity on the power supply side, the contradiction of power balance in late night valley load is very prominent. Deep peak regulation of thermal units requires the consumption of additional coal and even fuel, which is not conducive to achieve the dual carbon goal. Therefore, this article focuses on the centralized optimization of the day-ahead market, expands on multi-interval optimization, and proposes a day-ahead market clearing model that integrates electrochemical energy storage for deep peak regulation and is suitable for provincial electricity markets. A case study on the electricity market in a certain province shows that adjustable aggregate loads can replace deep peak regulation of thermal units, significantly reducing DPR costs and total daily spot market costs. The excess electricity stored by electrochemical energy storage during the DPR period will be released during the period when the electricity price is highest in the nDPR period, which has a positive effect on reducing spot market costs. The proposed model is suitable for clearing the provincial spot market considering deep peak regulation of electrochemical energy storage.
