Fundamental Study of On-Line Inductance Identification for IPMSM

Interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs) equipped with high-performance permanent magnets are anticipated to find diverse applications due to their high efficiency and wide variable speed range. In these motors, maximum torque control using an inductance map helps maximize efficiency. This paper proposes a new online measurement method for the inductances of IPMSMs and optimization of current phase. Finally, experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract

Interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs) equipped with high-performance permanent magnets are anticipated to find diverse applications due to their high efficiency and wide variable speed range. In these motors, maximum torque control using an inductance map helps maximize efficiency. This paper proposes a new online measurement method for the inductances of IPMSMs and optimization of current phase. Finally, experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
