Maximizing Thrust Force and Reducing Eddy Current Loss in Arc Linear Servo Motors Using 3D FE Analysis of Partial Magnet Segmentation
This paper presents a comprehensive 3D finite element analysis (FEA) of permanent magnet (PM) segmentation in an arc linear permanent magnet synchronous motor (AL-PMSM). The findings indicate that while complete magnet segmentation (CMS) significantly reduces PM eddy current loss, it also leads to a decrease in thrust force. On the other hand, partial magnet segmentation (PMS) substantially reduces eddy current loss and enhances thrust force, making AL-PMSM more efficient for heavy-load applications.
