Storages' Primary Frequency Regulation for Wind Farms' Large-Scale Integration into the Power Grid
To increase the flexibility of the main grid, new wind farms are required to provide frequency regulation. Energy storage is chosen to meet this requirement. However, it is difficult to recover the costs and there is little discussion of the profit model after adding storage. To address this issue, a profit analysis framework is developed for wind farms combined with storage, called wind-storage power plants. The framework is based on participation in the energy market with coordinated primary frequency regulation service. First, the operational strategy is discussed. Second, a coordinated unit commitment is developed to focus on wind farms. Finally, different cases with different strategies are analyzed. The consumption rate of wind power and the total revenue of the wind farm are studied under different load fluctuation rates. This detailed profit analysis aims to support the flexible improvement of new wind farms and contribute to the achievement of dual carbon targets.
