Static Testing System for Electromagnetic Torque Characteristics of Synchronous Motors
Accurate measurement of electromagnetic torque characteristics in synchronous motors is of highly significance to evaluate the effectiveness of motor optimization and simulation. Traditional dynamic measurement methods often face challenges in ensuring high accuracy, which may result from inverter interference and mechanical coupling. This paper proposes a method to measure the torque of synchronous motors under static conditions, aiming for high accuracy in assessing both average torque and torque ripple. The proposed method employs an index plate to precisely adjust and lock the rotor position angle, applies specific stator currents corresponding to various rotor angles, and obtains measurement data from the torque sensor. The testing procedure is validated on synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM). With results compared to calculations using finite element analysis (FEA) to confirm the accuracy and reliability of the testing system.
