Measurement of Magnetic Parameters with Focus on Eddy Current Losses in Permanent Magnets of Electrical Machines Using Flexible Matrix Sensors

Current and future modern applications such as in industry, traction, robotics, aerospace, electric vehicles and many more utilize electrical machines with permanent magnets (PMs) to achieve high power density and easy controllability while maximizing efficiency. This paper explores the measurement of magnetic parameters of PM, specifically focusing on eddy current losses in PM within electrical machines. Utilizing an ultra-thin flexible matrix sensor, we investigate the complicated aspects of PM losses to enhance the efficiency and performance of electrical machines. Through experimental setups and data analysis, we aim to provide valuable insights into optimizing the design and operation of energy-efficient permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM).
