Comparison of Hysteresis Motor Output According to Applied Voltage

In general, to improve the output performance of motors, multi-level inverter that can create a waveform close to a sinusoidal wave by applying a voltage with a waveform that has minimal harmonic components are proposed. However, existing studies have shown that the input-to-output efficiency of hysteresis motor is higher when applying a square wave with relatively more harmonic components than when applying a sinusoidal wave. This paper compared the efficiency of the existing experiments by obtaining the output when applying sinusoidal and square waves with the same RMS value through finite element analysis (FEA). In addition, the efficiency is compared when the number of levels of the multi-level inverter is adjusted to compare the efficiency according to the harmonic components, and finally, the highest efficiency is confirmed when the square wave is applied.
