Hybrid Frequency and Power Dual-Converter for Harmonics Suppression of Open-End Winding High-Speed PMSM
This paper proposes an innovative hybrid frequency and power dual-converter drive topology and control strategy for open-end winding high-speed permanent magnet synchronous machines (OW-HSPMSMs), to address efficiency losses, significant torque ripple, and thermal issues due to current harmonics. The main converter (MC) delivers most active power at lower frequency, while the secondary converter (SC) handles reactive power at higher frequency, substantially elevating equivalent switching frequency and reducing harmonics. Unlike traditional methods, this scheme, which eliminates bulky passive components and reduces reliance on costly SiC devices, offers superior performance in power density, power-to-weight ratio, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Finally, simulation results confirm its effectiveness.
