A Novel Synchronous Reluctance Machine with Unequal-Turn Concentric Winding
This paper presents a novel synchronous reluctance machine (SynRM) with unequal-turn concentric winding, aiming at reducing torque ripple and improving efficiency. The design procedure of the unequal-turn concentric winding with different slot pole combinations is given. Subsequently, the proposed winding is applied to a 36-slot 4-pole (36s4p) SynRM with full-pitch equal-turn distributed winding. It is found that the torque ripple of the machine is reduced due to the decrease of the harmonic amplitude of the stator winding magnetomotive force (MMF). Moreover, the advantage of the short end-winding length of concentric winding is obvious, which is beneficial for reducing copper loss and improving efficiency. In addition, the winding embedding method is investigated. To conclude, it is significant to improve the SynRM by applying the proposed unequal-turn concentric winding.
