Investigation of the Forced Oscillation in a VSG-based PV System
The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control in photovoltaic (PV) system will cause large amounts of inter-harmonics, which can lead to forced oscillation when the frequencies of inter-harmonics are close to the weak damping modes of PV system. Traditional researches focus on the relationship between harmonic source frequencies and weak damping modes, without fully considering the control effects of PV inverter on forced oscillation. This paper establishes the power input-output model of PV system using virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control, to facilitates the analysis of amplification effect of control dynamics on the power oscillations. Simulations verify the correctness of the proposed model, revealing that the control overshoot and power coupling characteristics of VSG have adverse effect on the forced oscillation magnitudes.
