A New Method for Cable Soft Fault Detection Based on the Broadband Electromagnetic Time Reversal

In industrial systems, cables are used to connect various devices. Diagnosing software cable faults is a consistent step to ensure the normal and stable operation of the system. The bottleneck of existing diagnostic methods is that the positioning and evaluation of faults in cables cannot fully consider the frequency dependent characteristics of cable parameters, resulting in low accuracy. This article proposes a new fault diagnosis method based on step frequency signals, using time inversion method to fully utilize the frequency domain information of cables for diagnosis. Firstly, the reference signal is designed, and then the collected signal is time inverted. Finally, the experimental verification is successful. Compared with the traditional principle based TDR method, the method proposed in this article has higher positioning accuracy.
