Wind Power Penetration Limitation Calculation Considering Wind Turbine Generator Under Frequency Constraints

The share of renewable energy sources (RES) technologies, especially wind energy, is steadily rising within the power system. continues to increase within the power system, the frequency indicators in low-inertia systems are nearing the limits of safety constraints., This scenario presents a significant risk to the safety and stability of the system's frequency. Consequently, it is essential to evaluate the maximum allowable penetration rate of RES within the system thoroughly. First, this paper evaluates the limit penetration rate of RES from the perspectives of frequency dynamic characteristics and safety constraints. Second, by deriving the rate of frequency drift and the maximum frequency deviation with virtual inertia control, we construct a frequency control dynamics model model with rapid frequency support for grid type wind turbines was constructed, and analytical expressions for the maximum frequency change rate, lowest frequency point, and steady-state frequency deviation with rapid frequency support were derived. Finally, the influence of control parameters of different grid type wind turbines on the permeability limit was analyzed.
