Model Predictive Sensorless Control with High-Frequency Square-Wave-Type Voltage Synchronized with Carrier

Recently Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) has been widely used in home appliances, trains, and automobiles. Additionally, Model Predictive Control (MPC) is recognized for its high responsiveness, and research has already explored its application to current control systems, speed control systems, and sensorless control systems using back electromotive force (EMF) in PMSM model. In this paper, we investigate the application of MPC to sensorless control systems in the low-speed region, using the saliency of IPMSM. We demonstrate that this approach can be effectively applied in low carrier frequency drives to achieve greater responsiveness compared to conventional PI control-based method.
