Maximum Torque Per Ampere Control of IPMSM Drive for Electric Two-Wheeler Applications
This paper presents performance of finite speed interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) for electric two-wheeler (E2W) applications for wide operating speed range. Field-oriented control (FOC) algorithm is developed to meet the key features of the E2W electric vehicle. The maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) control strategy for the said drive system is implemented for optimum torque generation along with flux weakening strategy. Results are shown with the extra urban driving cycle of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE). A comprehensive performance analysis of the traction drive is presented for in house designed SiC MOSFET based two-level voltage source inverter fed 72 V, 11kW IPMSM (ME MAX 1507) drive.
