Study on Pole-Slot Combinations of Half-Wave Rectified Variable Field Flux Motor with Axial Gap Structure
In our laboratory, we have proposed an axial gap half-wave rectified variable field flux motor (AG-HVFM). This motor has a double stator and rotor with a short-circuited field winding by a diode. This leads to the self-excitation of the field flux without permanent magnets and brushes. In this study, we examine the effects of pole-slot combinations, opposing cross-sections of the stator and rotor cores, and aspect ratio on the torque characteristics of the AG-HVFM.
