Energy-Saving Power Transmission Device for CNC
The thrust generating device of the machine tool converted to an electric system is a device that utilizes the existing spindle rotation drive motor. To achieve this, major devices such as a clutch, shaft key, and lead screw are required to transmit power by converting the rotational force of the spindle into reciprocating motion of the shaft. In this paper, we determine the design specifications of the lead screw, which is a device for transmitting power, and perform structural analysis of the key that restrains the rotation of the shaft, and stress analysis of the shaft including the lead screw and key according to the lead screw gap conditions. And the safety factor was confirmed. Finally, the thrust performance that satisfies the goals for each stage was confirmed through a thrust performance test of a prototype to which this power transmission device was applied. And the power consumption of the hydraulic spindle system and the electric spindle system was measured and compared..
