A Novel Consequent-Pole Vernier Permanent Magnet Machine with Dual Armature Winding Configuration
In this article, a consequent-pole dual armature winding vernier permanent magnet machine (CP-DAWVPMM) is proposed based on a split-poles vernier permanent magnet machine (SP-VPMM). Compared with the original SP-VPMM, the permanent magnet (PM) arrangement is changed to boost machine torque performance. Furthermore, the non-working harmonic produced by the armature reaction can be reduced to improve power factor by wounding secondary winding on the small teeth of the stator split-teeth. Lastly, the validity of the proposed structure is proved by the 2D finite element analysis (FEA), where the power factor is increased to 0.89, and the output torque is improved by 15.6%.
