Fault Tolerant Control for PMSG with Interturn Short Fault Based on Current Residuals
Interturn short faults (ISF) are usual winding electrical faults in permanent magnet synchronous generators (PMSGs). The abnormal connection between turns in PMSG will lead to short circuit current with high amplitude in the winding, result in torque ripples. To improve the output characteristics of PMSG under ISF fault. This paper presents a fault-tolerant control strategy utilizing current residuals. Current residuals are predicted by a fourth-order Luenberger observer, followed by the calculation of compensation currents injected into the dq-axis to mitigate torque ripples. The simulation results verify that harmonic components in torque are well reduced when the ISF fault happens.
