Multi-Objective Optimization of a Novel Permanent Magnet Starter-Generator
This paper focuses on optimizing a permanent magnet starter generator for multi-electric aircraft. A multi-objective optimization method employing a genetic algorithm was proposed to enhance power density, reduce short-circuit current, and minimize torque ripple. A finite element analysis model of the starter-generator was developed to simulate its performance. The optimization process determined the structural parameters that balance these objectives. The results demonstrate that the optimized design achieves torque comparable to the initial design, while significantly reducing short-circuit current and torque ripple. This validates the effectiveness of the multi-objective optimization in improving the starter-generator's performance and reliability for aircraft applications.
