An Optimization Design for Reducing Cogging Torque in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors
Cogging torque is a unique problem of PM motors, whether the motor can run smoothly, vibration and noise problems are related to the cogging torque, so how to reduce the cogging torque has become a key problem to be solved for PM motors. In this paper, we propose a method to reduce the cogging torque by slicing and partially embedding the permanent magnets. Firstly, the finite element analysis method is used to analyze the generation mechanism and related elements, and secondly, a surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor is simulated and analyzed in Ansys simulation software. Finally, it is concluded that this scheme can significantly reduce the cogging torque and minimize the torque ripple, which verifies the feasibility of the way of cutting and partially embedding the permanent magnets.
