Design of a Dynamic Compensator for Load-side Speed and Torsional Torque Controls of a Two-inertia System

In this paper, a load speed control method for a two-inertia system (TIS) is proposed, which includes a dynamic speed compensator (DSC) and a torsional torque feed-forward compensator (TTFC). Based on the torsional deformation characteristics, the DSC is employed for the compensation of load speed error, which can also estimate the torsional torque in real time without load-side encoder or torque sensor. The TTFC is designed for the compensation of the torsional torque which will be employed to sup-press speed fluctuations caused by torsional vibration. At last, the proposed control method is experimentally verified on a two-inertia system and shows good performance in speed tracking on the load side.
