Electromagnetic Performance Comparison of Dual-Rotor Permanent Magnet Motor with Three Different Rotor Topologies
The main research object of this paper is the dual-rotor single-stator radial flux permanent magnet synchronous motor (DRSS-RFPMSM). Firstly, the basic topology and working principle of DRSS-RFPMSM are introduced. Then, the surface-mounted permanent magnet (SPM) rotor and the flux-concentrating permanent magnet (FCPM) rotor are introduced into DRSS-RFPMSM, and DRSS-RFPMSM motor with three different rotor topologies (SPM-SPM, SPM-FCPM, FCPM-FCPM) are established. The electromagnetic performance of the three motors is compared by finite element analysis. Finally, it is concluded that different rotor topologies can bring different influence on DRSS-RFPMSM. SPM-SPM has highest torque density, but the PM utilization ratio and efficiency are lower. Both SPM-FCPM and FCPM-FCPM have higher PM utilization ratio and efficiency, as well as better flux weakening capacity, but lower torque density than SPM-SPM.
