A Novel Torque Ripple Mitigation Control Method for Single-Phase PMSM Based on Virtual Multi-Phase Algorithm
This paper proposes a novel torque ripple mitigation control strategy for single-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (SP-PMSM) based on the algorithm of virtual multi-phase. In order to extract and control the harmonic components of the stator current for torque ripple mitigation, a virtual multi-phase motor system is constructed by shifting the measured stator current of the single-phase. By applying vector space decomposition (VSD) to this virtual multi-phase motor, the fundamental and harmonic currents are decomposed into different subspaces and controlled separately, avoiding the need of low-pass filters and their undesired phase delay. Compared with traditional torque ripple mitigation methods for SP-PMSM, the proposed control strategy achieves accurate extraction and control of current harmonics, which is beneficial to improve the torque response. The effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is validated with simulation and experimental results.
